Solutions to securely and sustainably manage PFAS and PFAS-contaminated waste

Per- and poly- fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are toxic compounds that are resistant to water, oil, heat, and grease
and have been used in many consumer and industrial products since the 1940s. Commonly known as “forever chemicals”,
PFAS are persistent in the environment and don’t break down easily.

Heritage Environmental Services provides full-service solutions for the management and disposal of “forever chemicals”,
including Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF), by working with our customers to develop safe and compliant strategies. Our services include:

  • Nationwide waste transportation network, including rail, tanker, and van services

  • Turn-key, customized solutions serviced by a dedicated team of PFAS experts

  • Receipt of PFAS material at our Heritage permitted hazardous waste incinerator that can destroy PFAS-containing wastes

  • Removal of existing systems containing PFAs with best available technology and qualified hazardous material technicians

  • Onsite support for sample collection

  • Provide paperwork, packaging, and labeling for compliant PFAS-containing waste transportation

Forever chemicals can build up on the body over time and scientific studies have linked exposure to some PFAS with concerning health effects in humans and animals, including altered immune and thyroid function, liver disease, kidney disease, and cancer, among other health impacts. The EPA has determined that these compounds are not safe for human health and the environment and has developed a Strategic Roadmap to address them.

PFAS require safe and sustainable management to meet emerging requirements and regulations. Laws, regulations, health advisories, and sampling methods are being published at the federal and state level. These new requirements impact drinking water, long term liability, and waste disposal.
