When did you start at Heritage (or previously acquired companies) and what was your first position?

2005, Account Representative

Define a great leader—what are some traits you think great leaders possess?

Great leaders are honest, confident and committed to helping their teams learn and develop. They also spend as much time listening as they do talking. Integrity and vision are also incredibly important in order to lead and manage successful teams. Always show up with a positive attitude!

What is one of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your career?

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced in my career has been learning to successfully manage the work/life balance after having children. I am constantly working on my organization and time management skills to help augment that balance. I work hard to be sure that my time and energy spent with both my colleagues and family, is well spent. It is important that both my team and my family are seen, heard and valued, regardless of how busy life gets.

Do you have any tips, strategies you’ve employed, or lessons learned throughout your career that you would like to share with aspiring female leaders?

Never stop learning! It’s incredibly important to stay sharp and educated. Also, find passion somewhere in your career. Pay attention to where you spend most of your time each day. That is likely where your passion lies.
