February 1, 2013 – started in Customer Service as a Program Coordinator.

Define a great leader—what are some traits you think great leaders possess?

A great leader should be defined not only by their words but their actions. They should be strong, charismatic, open-minded, and empathetic. Someone you want to learn from and growth with for the team and for your future.

What is one of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your career?

Having confidence and courage to grow and break outside of my comfort zone. The proper support structure personally and professionally helped me achieve a new level of confidence to delve into uncharted waters and increase my skill set to help improve my performance.

Is there a female mentor or coworker you look up to at Heritage? If so, can you give a few reasons why?

Susan Adams. Each time I see Susan, she is cheerful, helpful and makes time for you. She stops to have a conversation, see how you are doing, how things are going, making it more than business adding that personal element. Her positive attitude is something that should be emulated.

Do you have any tips, strategies you’ve employed, or lessons learned throughout your career that you would like to share with aspiring female professionals?

Be your best self every day. Listening is key but never be afraid to ask questions or express opinions. Open yourself to continuous learning as there are always things out there you didn’t know the day before. I came in with customer service skills and broadened my knowledge of science, chemicals, compatibility, and many other areas simply by listening and asking questions.
