On Saturday February 4th, Heritage employees went to the Cherry Street Mission in Toledo alongside the Swanton Lions Club Leo’s teen group.
We spent about 5 hours with 15 people total and worked mostly in the kitchen. We split into crews and cleaned out the walk in freezer, spent time working in the warehouse cleaning and organizing and had a big crew that helped prepare food to be served for several meals. The Mission prepares about 200 meals a day, provides a safe place for many homeless to sleep, offers clothing and other needs, as well as educational and spiritual support. They recently had 3 homeless men that completed training as certified mechanics through the mission outreach programs and took jobs in the local area.
