In mid-May, Heritage Environmental Services sponsored our annual Habitat for Humanity project. We had 56 employees this year from companies across The Heritage Group (THG) including Heritage Environmental Services, Envita, THG Center, Heritage Research, Asphalt Materials, and US Aggregates come together to complete this panel build.

Volunteers ranged from Interns (Zayne Shalabi, HES Sustainability) to Retirees (Linda Osborn, HRG), with brand new employees like Joe Jackson from HES Accounting working alongside experienced individuals like Chris Evinger from the HES Indy Plant Quality Control, who has participated for more than 10 years! Chris McDonald from Envita traveled to Indy from his home in Illinois to participate for the third year.

The soon-to-be homeowner Zufan was onsite and worked with our team to build the walls of her new home! Having completed many of the Habitat program requirements like financial and home repair classes, she is eager to continue earning sweat equity as her home is built.  Zufan shared that she is looking forward to celebrating the holidays in her new home with her 5-year-old son.

Giving back to the communities where we live and work is a core element of the Heritage culture, and we’re proud to have our 14th Habitat build in the books. The panel build event, now regularly hosted in The Center parking lot at The Heritage Group corporate office in Indianapolis, provides an opportunity to bring employees to a central location without the need for further time away from work for travel to the build site. Employees across various roles and THG companies are able to network as they give back.

Special thanks to The Center staff (Todd Dobbs and team) and Cody Smitley for all the parking lot set-up and support, making it an enjoyable event.
