Meet the Facilities – East Liverpool
For manufacturers, it is becoming increasingly important to reduce, reuse, and recycle materials used or generated throughout production processes. Fortunately, there are methods to reduce environmental impacts such as reviewing operational procedures, identifying uses for materials that were once destined for disposal, or recovering energy to power other processes.
What We Do Best
Even after other options have been explored, waste materials may remain that require special handling and disposal technologies to protect human health and the environment. High-temperature incineration is one technology Heritage employs to properly manage certain types of hazardous waste generated.
With permits from Ohio and U.S. environmental agencies, Heritage operates a rotary kiln incinerator in East Liverpool, Ohio, that simultaneously burns hazardous and non-hazardous solids, liquids, and ozone-depleting gases. This incineration facility provides our customers with a state-of-the-art, thermal waste destruction option, reducing hazardous waste to its base elements and decreasing the volume of hazardous waste going into landfills.
Capabilities and Infrastructure
The facility operates 24/7 with scheduled stoppages for maintenance. Here’s how it works:
Safety and Compliance
Safe and Compliant or Not at All is our highest held core value. As such, we employ the most advanced and proven technologies and personnel training to ensure disposal is carried out to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and technological requirements. Vice President of Operations, Paul Beauchemin, shared that “A strong safety culture is paramount for protecting workers from harm and preventing accidents that could lead to injuries. It also boosts employee morale and productivity, ultimately contributing to the overall success and sustainability of the plant operations.”
Incineration also presents an opportunity to harness the energy potential in steam that is recovered and converted to heat. Advanced emissions controls result in levels of air emissions that are far below the limits permitted by the U.S. and Ohio EPAs. Heritage’s rigorously analytical approach to thermal treatment means every step of the disposal process is transparent and fully accountable.
